Hot bending is a relatively simple forming method, but it is also the most frequently used method to obtain parts that are bent along an axis. These parts are often used for machine guard plates. A radiant heater (such as an infrared emitter or a resistance heater) can be used to heat the bending line of the sheet. Usually, the temperature required for this simple thermoforming is 150-160℃, and it is usually not necessary to pre-dry (if the forming temperature is high It must be pre-dried, you should try it with a small board first).

When heating on one side, keep rotating the plate to get a uniform heating effect. When the appropriate plate temperature is reached, remove the plate from the heater and maintain the pressure until the plate is bent to the required angle. For higher requirements and hot bending of 3mm or more plates, the double-sided heating effect is better.

The minimum bending radius is three times the thickness of the sheet, and the width of the heating zone can be adjusted to obtain different bending radii. For the production of high-precision or (and) large parts, it is recommended to use a bending device with temperature controllers on both sides. A simple shaping bracket can be made to cool the plate in place to reduce deflection.

Local heating will cause internal stress in the product. In addition, special attention should be paid to the use of chemicals for hot-bent plates.
